Essex Book Festival Writer-in-Residence, 2017
In February and March of 2017 Sarah attended events throughout her native county of Essex.
UNESCO City of Literature Writer-in-Residence, Prague 2016
In January and February 2016 Sarah was the UNESCO City of Literature Writer-in-Residence for Prague. During this time she researched her third novel, and gave talks at schools, universities and other institutions.

Sarah was awarded a place as Writer-in-Residence at Gladstone's Library in January 2013.
She spent a month in Britain's only residential library, researching and drafting her second novel, The Essex Serpent.
Sarah is a regular contributor to the library's annual literary festival, Gladfest.
